Boris Bunnik aka Conforce is a restless producer from Terschelling, Holland, who is forever keen tosearch out new techniques, tools and sounds for the various musical projects in which he is involved. Continually flirting with a range of genres like ambient, techno and house on numerous EPs and LPs, he also operates in a sonic territory that has no easily identifiable name on labels like Rush Hour, Delsin, Clone, Frustrated Funk and his own experimental electronic label Transcendent. Boris has always been keen to go his own way and to not limit his own creative self. Despite being influenced by techno and electro from Detroit and the UK, as well as the early Dutch rave scene, he is now more focussed on heading in new directions, in creating something contemporary and forward looking, in laying down new foundations of sounds using the diverse and dexterous skills he has at hand.

With his club orientated live sets as Conforce, Bunnik manages to weave non-linear journeys through techno, Chicago and house, focusing on the deep underlying grooves – dependent on the club and crowd, of course. Although not afraid of technology and machines, the human element is an all-important aspect to the Dutchman’s music: it’s variously described as heroin for techno heads, deep, pulsating, atmospheric, floating… Pin him down at your peril, though, because as you will find with his second full length album for Delsin this Autumn, he’s making a statement with his own personal sound, bringing it much more into the present, away from the techno tag and into wider, deeper, trippy territory than before.

Performing live, Perm focusses on loops and a rough, analogue sound. While relying on the own dynamics of his machines, he never looses control and enters new grounds combining the straightness of Detroit’s techno with the energy of acid and house. With his infamous DJ sets he takes us on an electrifying journey through techno, house, acid and disco.
